As we approach the end of the year, it can be a great time to reflect on the memories we’ve created with our families. One way to capture those special moments is by creating a time capsule with your little ones. This fun and creative project is a great way to preserve memories from the past year and create a special keepsake that you can look back on for years to come.
Here's how to get started:
1. Choose a container:
2. Select items to include:
The next step is to gather items to include in your time capsule. Encourage your little ones to choose items that are meaningful to them, such as a toy, a drawing, or a special photo. You can also include items that represent your family and the year that’s ending, such as a newspaper or magazine, a family photo, or a letter to your future selves. Or if you have a new addition to your family, you can put something from their first holiday into the time capsule. My family and I usually put one thing that reminded us of the year. This year I put in my baby’s sonogram (yes this will be my 4th)!
3. Decorate the container:Â
Once you have your items selected, it’s time to decorate the container. Get creative and have fun with this step! You can use stickers, markers, paint, or anything else you have on hand to personalize your time capsule. If you don’t have much crafts at home, you can get stickers, or just get some markers and color them. My little ones like to color their hands with these paint sticks and make handprints!
4. Store your time capsule:Â
Finally, it’s time to store your time capsule in a safe place where it will be protected from the elements. Choose a spot that is easily accessible so that you can open it up and revisit your memories whenever you’d like.
Creating a time capsule with your little ones is a fun and meaningful way to celebrate the past year and look forward to the future. It’s a great way to preserve memories and create a special keepsake that you can cherish for years to come. Give it a try this year and see what memories you can capture with your family!
